Tyler James Smith
Tyler James Smith, 20, of Margaretville died Friday, Sept. 13, 2013 at Maryville, Missouri.
He was born August 19, 1993 at Ft. Benning, GA, the son of Allen Smith and Jodi (George) Carson. He attended Margaretville Central School until the 12th grade when he transferred to and graduated from Platte City High School in Platte City, MO in 2011, where he was a member of the soccer team. He had attended Hartwick College in Oneonta and was currently enrolled at Northwest Missouri State University majoring in psychology.
Tyler, who will be especially remembered for his amazing smile that captured the hearts of anyone fortunate enough to have met him, is survived by his father and stepmother, Allen and Rhonda Smith of Platte City, MO; his mother and stepfather, Jodi and Steve Carson of Andes; his brothers, Josh, Tucker, and Hunter, and his sister, Emily. He also leaves his maternal grandparents, Rita Atkin and Watson and Arleen George, also of Margaretville and his paternal grandmother, Hiroku Smith of Fort Plain. He is also survived by his close friends Emily Lapp and Tiffany Kempf of Missouri and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces.
Tyler was preceded in death by his grandfather, Charles Smith Jr. and his uncle, Charles Smith III.
Calling hours will be held Friday, Sept. 20, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Margaretville with Rev. L. Lawrence Dunlap and Pearl Wilson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to the Tyler Smith Scholarship Fund at Margaretville Central School.
