Three MCS retirees honored at dinner

There will be three familiar faces absent from the halls of Margaretville Central School when classes begin next fall. Superintendent John Riedl, elementary teacher Jackie Garelick, and aide Karen Cohen are retiring from teaching at the end of the 2007-08 school year.
Following dinner, which was held at Hanah Mountain Resort and Country Club, retirees were presented with a number of gifts and mementos and were lauded by a number of their co-workers.
“If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life,” said Riedl, who has served as MCS superintendent for the past six years.
Garelick, who was responsible for the creation of an elementary science lab, told fellow teachers, “I hope you all enjoy doing this as much as I have.” Garelick and her husband, Wayne, who also taught at MCS, are retiring to Wilmington, N.C.
