Theodore Finkle

Theodore Leland Finkle Sr., 62, of Beech Hill, Andes, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010 at his home, surrounded by his family and friends, after a long battle with cancer.

He was born February 2, 1948 in Delhi, the son of the late Isaac W. and Maude E. (Titch) Finkle, and grew up on military bases in Hawaii, where he was an avid surfer, returning to the area in his teens.

He graduated from Andes Central School in 1966.

Ted worked as a licensed insurance claims adjustor in New York and Georgia. He also spent time in Anchorage, Alaska, working for U.S. Steel and Marritt Construction Company.

An avid sportsman, gun enthusiast and competition marksman, Ted also enjoyed the companionship of his three pet Labradors. Theodore FinkleTheodore Finkle

Surviving are his son, Theodore (Pam) Finkle Jr., of South Kortright; a daughter, Jennifer Rowe of Burnt Hills; 10 grandchildren; a brother, William Finkle, of Middletown; a sister, Deborah Stanton of Walton; a cousin, Rose Gladding and her family of Meridale; an aunt, Helen Nichols, of Walton; as well as other cousins, nieces, nephews and longtime companion, Sharon Shankleton, of Norwich.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 16 at the Andes United Methodist Church, with Pastor Karen Ogborn, officiating. Burial followed in the Shavertown Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Heart of the Catskills Humane Society, P.O. Box 88, Delhi, NY 13753 will be appreciated.
