Tablecloths and tunes on tap at Old School Baptist Church

Roxbury — The Roxbury Arts Group is kicking off the summer season on Saturday, July 11 from noon to 4 p.m. with Tablecloths, a fun-filled Fun-Raiser, at its new venue, The Old School Baptist Church in the beautiful Denver Valley.
“This is a very special opportunity for the entire community to celebrate this wonderful space with good food, entertainment, a fun auction and vintage baseball,” says Executive Director Susan Kenny.
The day begins at noon with Brooks Barbecue and homemade fixins, everything from coleslaw to watermelon. The Ommegang Brewery will be on hand with samples of its great beers. Wine and beer will be available all day. A splendid array of vintage tablecloths will be auctioned off in the spirit of an old-fashioned church social. The Horseshoe Lounge Playboys will be on hand to entertain with their foot stomping, backwoods blend of bluegrass with good old time country and a bit of Appalachian hair of the dog.
And then, the Roxbury Nine takes to the field for a rousing vintage baseball game. Paul Gossen, former president of the Denver Valley Preservation Committee, the group responsible for the beautiful restoration of the church, will be on hand to give tours and provide information throughout the day.
The Old School Baptist Church is nestled in what some say is the most charming valley in Delaware County at 6424 county Highway 36. Look for colorful tablecloths waving in the breeze as you approach the site. This family friendly event will take place rain or shine. There will be a tented pavilion with seating for the picnic, concert and auction. Those attending the baseball game might want to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
Tickets are $20. For reservations, directions or more information please call 607 326-7908.
