Summer camp for seniors is topic of talk
A new “camp for seniors” will be the featured topic at the March 12, 10 a.m. meeting Auxiliary of Margaretville Hospital and Mountainside Residential Care Center. Tom Briggs, director of the Delaware County Office of the Aging, will speak about the 4C Camp for Adults to be held at 4-H Camp Shankitunk in Delhi from August 28 to 30.
The camp will be open to both day and overnight campers and will have a variety of programs and activities that, according to Mr. Briggs, are guaranteed to be a lot of fun and will lead to many new friendships.
At 4C (Campers Creating Caring Communities) Camp participants can expect to have fun, meet new friends, learn new and interesting crafts and hobbies, discover the wonder of nature, experience the camaraderie around the campfire, swim in the camp pool, work in special groups and enjoy evening programs and entertainment.
The 4C Camp for adults is held at the 4-H Camp Shankitunk, which is located on 145 acres of county-owned land along the West Branch of the Delaware River between DeLancey and Delhi. The main campground is a large open meadow surrounded by naturally wooded hillsides. Campers are housed in cabins spaced among the trees and along the meadow’s edge.
“It will be a wonderful opportunity for our seniors. Anyone interested in learning more about the camp is invited to attend the meeting at Mountainside,” commented Mr. Briggs. The web address for the 4C Camp is www.4c-camp.org.
The auxiliary meeting will be held at Mountainside’s Club Med. Mountainside is adjacent to Margaretville Hospital on Route 28. For additional information, please call 845 586-1800.
