Students honored for achievements at annual Andes athletic banquet

Andes Central School held its 2009-2010 Athletic Banquet on Wednesday, June 9 during which the school’s top athletes were recognized for their efforts during the 2009-2010 school year. The Excellence in Athletics Award in memory of Bruce Butler was awarded to Karli Tait and Rachel Andrews and Cody Ruff.
The Babe Ruth Sportsmanship Award was won by Kaitlin Mackay and Sage Beemer.
In boys’ varsity soccer Peter Fabrykiewicz was named Offensive Most Valuable Player, Cody Ruff was named Defensive Most Valuable Player, Ian Wright was named Most Improved Player, Justin Mohr won the Coach’s Award and Eric Reed won the Versatility Award.
In girls’ varsity soccer Mariah Ruff was named the Outstanding Offensive Player, Gina Tait was named the Outstanding Defensive player, Kelsey Little won the Hustle Award, Karli Tait won the Team Player Award and Jenna Weaver won the Most Improved Player award.
In boys’ varsity basketball Eric Reed was named the Most Valuable Player, James Litaker was named the Most Improved Player and Cody Ruff won the Consistency Award.
In girls’ varsity basketball Mariah Ruff was named the Most Valuable Player, Ashley Terry was named the Outstanding Defensive Player and Rachel Andrews and Karli Tait were named Coach’s Award winners.
In varsity tennis Eric Reed and Sage Beemer were given awards for Outstanding Performance.
In varsity softball Karli Tait and Rachel Andrews were named co-Most Valuable Players, Gina Tait won the Coach’s Award and Mariah Ruff the Golden Glove Award.
In varsity baseball Nathan Tuch won the Outstanding Performance Award.
In boys’ varsity track James Litaker won the Outstanding Performance Award.
The Jake Day Memorial Award was presented to Mariah Ruff and Eric Reed and Sage Beemer.
