Steven K. Vollmer, 67, a resident of Arkville, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013 at Briarcliff Manor.
He was born on October 28, 1946 in Hennepin County, Minneapolis, MN, the son of Karl Frederick and Patricia Anne (McCarthy) Vollmer.
Steven grew up in Miami, FL with his mother and sister, Anne. He attended Southwest Miami High School and was a member of the Royal Lance Marching Band as a great trumpet player. He then attended Florida State University, majoring in advertising and spent an internship in Chatham, MA for a summer. Later in life he was a member of the Rick Danko, Levon Helm, Kinky Friedman Band. Steven also worked with Bob Dylan and many more musical artists.
He is survived by his son, Daniel C. Vollmer of Arkville; his sister, Anne P. Magnan of Palmer, MA; a niece, Dannielle Kaiser of Turners Falls, MA; a nephew, Eric Magnan of San Francisco, CA and his uncle, Gerald McCarthy, a retired Catholic priest of North Dakota.
Calling hours were held on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville from 2 to 5 p.m.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Margaretville with the Rev. Steven Scarmozzini as celebrant. Committal will be held at Margaretville Cemetery.
