Steven T. Fabrykiewicz
Steven T. Fabrykiewicz, 59, died at his home in DeLancey on Monday, Aug. 2, 2010.
Steven was born on October 8, 1950 in New London, CT to the late S. Tom and Louise (Weingarten) Fabrykiewicz. He grew up in New London spending much of his time fishing and exploring his corner of the world. He was an extraordinary varsity football player and an accomplished golfer.
As an adult he started a journey westward living for a time in Pittsburgh then St. Louis and on to Chicago. His goal was California. He met Beth McGuire, in 1985 and his westward progression came to a halt. They were married on September 28, 1991.
They managed their own business, The Road Show, a manufacturers’ representative company that served the toy, gift and greeting card businesses in Illinois, Indiana and Missouri. Their first son, Peter, was born in 1993. Steven and Beth lived in a lovely neighborhood on the north side of Chicago until November 1995 when, leaving family and countless friends, they made the move to Delaware County.
Their first home and job in New York was caretaking at the Oquago Retreat Center and T’ai Chi Camp on Perch Lake in Andes and helping with the operation of the camp. Steven taught T’ai Chi locally in several different communities. Their son Sam was born in 1999.
When the camp was sold they moved to DeLancey to accommodate Steven’s new career as a sales agent for Coldwell Banker Timberland Properties’ Delhi office. He became involved with the Delhi Chamber of Commerce and served as the vice president under Brian Domion and followed him as the president. He served for a time as a mediator for Catholic Charities.
Steven began his own real estate agency, Real Estate 28 in January of 2003 and remained the principal broker until his death. He served on the Professional Standards Com-mittee for the Otsego Delaware Board of Realtors.
He is survived by his wife Beth McGuire; their two sons Peter and Sam; his mother Louise, brother Peter; sister Mary McTeague and his sons Steven and David from his first marriage. Several nieces and nephews, cousins and countless friends also survive.
Steven was a loving husband and father doing everything he could to nurture his family. He was the provider of everything important; he was their protector and nourished them with his unfaltering love.
His greatest joy for the last several years of his life was watching his two sons Peter and Sam play soccer. He became a fixture on the sidelines photographing every detail of every game. Steven will be missed for his wit and humor, his generosity and compassion, his spiritual wisdom and his very large presence in the lives of everyone who knew him.
Calling hours are Thursday Aug. 12 at the Hall and Peet Funeral Home, Main Street, Delhi.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Aug. 13 at 10 a.m. at the DeLancey Presbyterian Church, county Highway 2, DeLancey.
