Sister Sparrow to headline RoxFest NY
Roxbury — The Greater Roxbury Learning Initiative Corporation (GRLIC) invites the public to RoxFestNY, Sunday, Aug. 25, from noon to 10 p.m. at the Stone Tavern Farm, 2080 Upper Meeker Hollow Road.
It’s music, music, music all day with four great bands, “Hello Seattle”, a brand new hot young band that is really going places, “Coyote Love”, a blues based, passionate, “Early 70s Funk Rockin’ Explosion From NYC”, “The Blues Maneuver”, and the Catskills own seven-piece band that combines top-notch musicianship, impeccable vocal harmonies and a mighty horn section, “Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds”, one of the hottest, young, nationally up-and-coming bands to hit the road in a long, long time! For more information and tickets go to www.RoxFestNY.com.
RoxFestNY is a benefit for GRLIC, a not-for-profit foundation that was created to give area students the opportunity to become competitive with students in more populated areas.
This past year, GRLIC helped many students in Delaware County become computer literate by providing basic and advanced training in its own tech lab, right across the street from the Roxbury Central School. These courses helped students become more competitive for college placement and technical training. All classes are free to school aged students and the fee for adults is nominal. Because of demand, GRLIC has introduced classes in Delhi and Margaretville as well as in Roxbury.
