Sectional basketball games rescheduled due to inclement weather
Three days of heavy snowfall that has left many local areas with more than three feet of snow has wreaked havoc on the 2010 Section IV Class D basketball tournament schedule – but organizers are working to get games in around the weather.
The Andes boys’ varsity basketball team is scheduled to play the opening game of the 2010 Section IV Class D tournament at 3 p.m. tomorrow in Gilboa against the host Wildcats of Gilboa Central School. The game, which was originally scheduled to be played on Tuesday, was rescheduled due to the heavy snowfall that has been falling since Tuesday afternoon.
The winner of tomorrow’s game will face the winner of the match-up between Charlotte Valley and Hunter-Tannersville on Sunday or Monday, according to ACS Coach John Bernhardt.
The Roxbury Rockets, who won their opening round game against the Stamford Indians on Tuesday, are scheduled to play the host Rams of South Kortright tomorrow night in the quarterfinal round at South Kortright.
The Margaretville girls are also scheduled to play the opening round of the sectional tournament tomorrow, as they travel to face the JayHawks of Jefferson at Stamford Central School at 2 p.m. The Andes girls will play the host Wildcats of Charlotte Valley at 5 p.m. tomorrow in Charlotte Valley. Both games were rescheduled after cancellations on Wednesday due to inclement weather.
Additional changes to the schedule due to inclement weather will be published on the Catskill Mountain News Web site as they are made available.
