Ruth Hunter

Ruth Ella Hunter, 71, of Unadilla died at Bassett Hospital in Coopers-town  on April 30, 2012.
Ruth was born on October 14, 1940 in Margaretville Hospital to Bert and Ella A(Mayes) Hunter. Ruth was raised in the Vega Valley in Roxbury, and graduated from Roxbury Central School in 1961. In life Ruth was definitely a Catskill

Mountain original character and will not be forgotten by anyone who met her, however briefly.
Ruth worked for Audio Sears on the assembly line in electronics in Stamford.
She lived with a friend,  Sandra Champlain, for the last 20 years in Unadilla.

She was like a mother, grandmother, and aunt to Sandra’s children and grandchildren. She will be missed by all of them.

Ruth’s survivors include her twin sister, Rose Bush aand sisters Velda Keator, Betty Techow and Janet Mattice, two younger brothers, Richard and John Hunter, and many nieces and nephews, as well as grand nieces and nephews. She will be remembered by everyone as Aunt Ruthie.

She was predeceased by her parents; ; a daughter, Doris Ella Lyons; two brothers, Bert Jr.  and Clinton Hunter, and a sister, Eva (Hunter) Brinks.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday May 3, 2012 at the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury prior to the funeral service.

A funeral service for Ruth will be held 4 p.m. on Thursday May 3 at the Miller Funeral Home in Roxbury with Pastor Shirley Davis officiating.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Roxbury Cemetery.
