The ladders are up and the paintbrushes are out as renovations begin on the new home of Roxbury Wine and Spirits. The liquor store, owned by Peter Chen and Jeff Tichenor, was granted a license by the state liquor authority on Thursday, April 10 and the work was begun the following day by Mulder Construction Group. The 1890s Greek revival building originally housed a bank and then the offices of the Roxbury Arts Group before being purchased by Chen and Tichenor. “Peter and I are thrilled to join the other new businesses that have opened in Roxbury over the past three years. The town is growing and we felt this was the perfect time to follow our dream of owning a business in the Catskills,” said Tichenor, a professional food service provider. In the past few years, three major buildings were purchased and renovated that now house eight new businesses on Route 30 in Roxbury. — Photo by Jill Ribich, Catskill Images
