Gene and Joan Abbiate of Burroughs Memorial Road journeyed to Edgewater, New Jersey to be with family during the holidays. A highlight of their visit was going into New York City to attend the show “Cirque De Soliel Wintuk.” The Abbiates’ daughter Linda, son Michael and grandsons Matthew and Christopher also attended the show. The family also enjoyed dinner together.
Sunday dinner guests of Valerie and Doug Cowan were Leighton and Joan Hinkley and the Hinkleys’ daughter Vicki from New Jersey and their son Tom and his sons.
Vincent Snyder and Esther Snyder attended the funeral and get-together afterwards for Iris Hitchcock at the Free Methodist Church in Maplecrest last Thursday. Esther had a nice visit with Mrs. Elwood Hitchcock, whose husband was at one time the guidance director at Margaretville Central School.
Want to enjoy a book, video or DVD these cold winter evenings? A good selection is available aboard the Four County Library System Cybermobile. The Mobile will be at the Halcottsville Post Office on Thursday, Jan. 8 from 2:45-3:35 p.m., then it makes a stop at the Civic Center in Grand Gorge between 4:30 and 5:15 p.m.
Remember Roxbury Library Association is another source of materials for enjoyment and information. Library hours, weather permitting, are Mondays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Thursdays 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Whenever Roxbury Central School is closed for a “snow day,” Roxbury Library is also closed. The library is closed on holiday Mondays as well.
Tuesday Forum starts the New Year with “Just Desserts” at 1 p.m. on January 13 at Roxbury Library. Participants are asked to bring a favorite dessert to share.

Friday, Jan. 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. the Red Cross blood drive will be held at BOCS-NCOC, Jump Brook Road, Grand Gorge. All currently eligible and new donors are urged to call 800 448-3543 to schedule an appointment to donate blood.
There is a “Sharing is Giving” group right here in Delaware County.
