Allyce Bolger of Roxbury has been named to the Dean’s List at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for the spring semester of her sophomore year. Full-time students, who maintain grade-point averages of 3.0 out of a possible 4.0 and have no grades below a “C”, qualify for the Dean’s List. Allyce is the daughter of John and Lorrayne Bolger.
Dr. Majd Loulou, a family practice physician, will begin serving at the Roxbury Family Health Center on August 13. Margaretville Hospital, a member of Health Alliance, Inc., has announced these hours for Roxbury Family Health Center, effective September 2: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“Nature and Art for Kids” the popular summer program for ages 8-12, is set for Monday, Aug. 18 through Friday, Aug. 22 from 9:30-3 p.m. The program is sponsored by The Roxbury Arts Group and includes crafts and a trip to Ashokan Field Campus. Pre-registration is required. Suggested donation is $5. Scholarships are available.
On Friday, Aug. 22, the Bernard Woma Ensemble comes to Hilt Kelly Hall of The Roxbury Arts Group. Woma is a master Ghanian musician. At 2 p.m. on the 22nd, a free children’s workshop will be offered by Woma and his musicians. RAG’s annual African Dance Party is set for 8 p.m. For details, phone RAG at 607 326-7908.
Gideon Meckes, son of Dave and Georgia Meckes of Margaretville, was recently baptized at the Gould Church. Gideon is the fourth generation represented at his baptismal service. Gideon’s maternal grandfather John LoPresti and his wife Claire came from Connecticut. From Poughkeepsie came Gideon’s maternal grandmother, Kathleen Davis and his maternal great-grandmother, Virginia Davis. Godparents Dan and Danielle Wood arrived from Fort Worth, Texas. They are cousin and spouse of Gideon’s mother, Georgia.
Children enrolled in the Roxbury Central School kindergarten classes will get a “first taste” of school during the annual summer program held this year from August 18-21.
