Roxbury Jr. High School Science Olympiad team takes third place in regionals

The Roxbury Central School Junior High Science Olympiad team returned home from their regional tournament with the third-place trophy.
Ten of the 15 members of the A-Team were able to capture medals. The tournament was one team short of being allowed to send more than two teams to the state finals so the Rockets will re-group and make another run at the states beginning next fall.
Team members who finished in the top-half of the tournament were: Anatomy, Jessi-Lyn Borfitz and Rose Battista bronze medal; Boomilever, Paul Krickhan and Nick Dorrance gold medal; Disease Detectives, Christine Ianniello and Emma Hynes bronze medal; Dynamic Planet, Nick .Sprague and Paul Krickhan bronze medal; Entomology, Rose Battista and A.J. Perazone silver medal; Green Generation, Nick Sprague and Justina Jordan 5th place; Invasive Species, Justina Jordan and Isaac Walker gold medal; Rocks and Minerals, Nick Sprague and Paul Krickhan bronze medal; Solar System, Justina Jordan and Zoe Mattice fourth place; Wheeled Vehicles, A.J. Perazone and Brendan Reidlinger 4th place; Write It / Do It, Nick Dorrance and Savannah Boyle fourth place.
Participating as members of the B-Team were Katrina Davis, Christian Spariosu, Skyler Faulkner, and Nick Cross.
The team is coached by Fred Zimmerman, Jamie Kellerhouse, Jessica Boyer, Al Vigna, Jason Stevenson, and Joan Kemp. Volunteer assistant coaches are Paul Gossen, Robert Titus, Roger Hickey and Marc Kantrowitz
