Registration open for 1,000 Books Club
Margaretville — Registration for the 1,000 Books Club is now open at the Fairview Public Library in Margaretville, the Skene Memorial Library in Fleischmanns or the Margaretville Central School Library.
The 1,000 Books Club is an early childhood literacy program, the goal of which is to make it convenient, easy and free for parents to have access to 1,000 quality children’s books to read aloud to their children. One hundred tote bags with 10 books in each bag will be loaned, one at a time, to families in the community. The program is available to families with preschool or school-aged children and will be targeted specifically at children between the ages of three and six who live in the Margaretville Central School District, though families with older children may participate.
Families may take one bag at a time and may keep the bag for up to two weeks. In addition, the program features “milestone bags” of books, which earn the student a prize when they reach one.
Families who register to participate will choose one location to register for the 1,000 Books Club and will pick up and drop off the bags of books at that location.
