RCS, MCS net tennis wins

The Roxbury Rockets advanced to 4-0 with two tennis wins last week. The Rockets posted a 5-2 win over the Warriors of Windham on Tuesday and edged the visiting Wildcats of Hunter-Tannersville 4-3 on Friday to remain unbeaten.
Roxbury won four of five singles matches against Windham and split in doubles for the league win on Tuesday. Roxbury’s Kevin Lutz led Roxbury at No. 1 singles, defeating Windham’s Brian Lowe 9-4, while teammate Christian Schor defeated Greg Paspalis 9-2 at No. 2 singles. Roxbury’s Brittney Bell and Windham’s Janine Miller battled to a 9-9 standoff at No. 3 singles, but Miller earned the win. Roxbury’s Jon Dykstra posted a win at No. 4 singles, defeating Windham’s Alex Brabazon 9-0, and Marina Eignor posted a 9-7 win over Windham’s Liza DeWald at No. 5 singles.
The No. 1 Roxbury doubles team of Tiffany Faulkner and Josh Riely posted a 9-7 win over Windham’s Robbie Gilbertson and ALysia Neelin while teammates Joe McAfee and Erin Hubbell fell to Windham’s Andrea Black and Liz Berchert 9-6.
In Friday’s home match-up with Hunter-Tannersville, the Rockets claimed three of two singles match-ups and once again split in doubles to post a 4-3 win over the visiting Wildcats.
Lutz fell to Hunter’s David Sandler at No. 1 doubles while Schor posted a 10-8 win over Hunter’s Nick Clark at No. 2 doubles and Dykstra defeated Hunter’s Mike Radcliff 9-3 at No. 3 doubles. Hunter’s Paige Byrne edged Roxbury’s Brittney Bell 9-6 at No. 4 singles while Eignor posted a 9-5 win at No. 5 singles over Hunter’s Dylan Endy.
In doubles competition, Roxbury’s top duo, Faulkner and Riely, posted a solid 9-0 win over Hunter’s Mary Tracey and Neal Statts, while No. 2 doubles team Kaitlynne Peters and Garrett Hinkley fell to Hunter’s Taylor Dart and Brianna Thompson 9-6.
In Margaretville tennis action, the host Blue Devils posted a 7-0 win over the visiting Warriors of Windham on Thursday afternoon. The Blue Devils swept the singles and doubles competition.
Top-seeded Eric Reed defeated Windham’s Brian Lowe 9-4 while teammate Sage Beemer posted a 9-3 win at No. 2 doubles over Windham’s Evan Goettsche. Margaretville’s Michelle O’Reilly posted a 9-4 win over Windham’s Janine Miller in the No. 3 slot, while James Warner defeated Windham’s Liza DeWald 9-0 in the No. 4 slot. Margaretville’s Alex Ramos completed the sweep, defeating Windham’s Alex Brabazon 10-8 at No. 5 singles.
In doubles competition, Margaretville’s Tyler Smith and Marcus Moore posted a 9-4 win over Windham’s Robbie Gilbertson and John Diesso, while teammates Javier Martinez and Greg Lehn defeated the Warriors’ Andrea Black and Ashley Tuttle 9-1.
