Rally for Obama Saturday, Nov. 1 in Delhi
Delhi — The Delaware County Democratic Committee, spearheaded by members of the Town of Delhi committee, will host a rally for presidential candidate Barack Obama on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Courthouse Square in Delhi. The event will begin at noon.
Entertainment will be provided by local bands, and refreshments will include local apple cider and cookies in the shape of an “O,” in honor of the candidate. Obama/Biden lawn signs will be available for those attending, and the square will be filled with rally signs.
Area farmers are bringing tractors, equipped with large “Farmers for Obama” signs, and more will be welcome. Attendees will be encouraged to make a paper chain, which will include their names and e-mail addresses.
Tables will also be set up featuring Obama’s position papers on major issues and copies of his “Blueprint for Change” will be available. Campaign workers will be on hand to answer any questions people might have.
Featured local speakers include Delaware County Democratic Chairwoman Cynthia Lockrow-Schim- merling and George Lawson, president of the Delaware County Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA). “Rather than having politicos talk to us, we will welcome local supporters to tell why they (are supporting Senator) Obama,” commented Katherine Mario, one of the local organizers of the event.
