Ponies visit to cheer Kirkside residents
Roxbury — Two ponies from Rosemary Farm Sanctuary in Bloomville made a visit to Kirkside Retirement Home in Roxbury on January 1 to help spread some holiday cheer.
Residents, staff and their families got to pet the two rescued horses that made the trip to Roxbury, adorned in colorful seasonal blankets.
The ponies came on New Year’s Day because their visit had been postponed due to rain. The owners brought the horses from their rescue farm and are working on getting them used to different situations. Events like the one at Kirkside raise awareness and money to support the not-for-profit animal sanctuary.
Rosemary Farm Sanctuary rescues horses in dire need. Some are made available for adoption, many live at the horse sanctuary for life. Tours and educational programs are available.
“The residents really enjoyed it,” commented Kirkside Board Member Bonnie Walker.
Kirkside Retirement Home offers 24-hour care for residents in private and semi-private rooms. All meals are provided and the home offers a full activity calendar, as well as transportation services. For additional information, please call 607 326-4651 or e-mail KirksideofRoxbury@gmail.com
