Police search for gunman after Roxbury store robbery

By Brian Sweeney
Police are searching for an armed robber who stole cash from the Roxbury Country Store on Monday night.

The masked intruder entered the Main Street store at approximately 10:58 p.m. Monday and displayed what police said appeared to be a handgun. The male subject demanded that the store clerk turn over cash from the register and then fled the scene on foot. He reportedly exited the scene and headed south in front of the store before disappearing from sight.

The clerk then contacted the Delaware County 911 Emergency Center to report the crime. No injuries were reported in the incident. State police at Margaretville would not indicate how much money was taken.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with further information on the robbery is asked to contact state police Troop C headquarters in Sidney at 607 561-7400. State police are being assisted by Roxbury Town Constable Steve Williamson and NYC Department of Environmental Protection Police.
