Panelists sought to assist arts group with applications

Roxbury — The Roxbury Arts Group (RAG) is seeking interested people to serve on a peer panel that reviews applications to the Community Arts Funding Program. Panelists should be practicing artists in any genre or community members who attend cultural events throughout the county. All panelists should reside at least part time in Delaware County.
The Delaware County Community Arts Funding Program is funded by The New York State Council on the Arts to foster the continued development of local artistic and cultural resources responsive to the needs of each community. RAG administers the program in Delaware County. Funds are regranted annually to Delaware County not for profit groups and individual artists through a competitive application and peer panel review process. Local decision-making is a key factor in the success and growth of the program.
Panelists are required to attend two meetings; a two-hour orientation session at RAG, and a full day of panel deliberation at The United Ministry Church in Delhi. Each panelist reads all the applications and comes to the deliberation session prepared to discuss the merits of each. In addition, panelists are expected to attend a minimum of four funded events throughout the year. This is a volunteer activity, but those who have served on the panel express a great deal of satisfaction in helping to shape the cultural climate in Delaware County.
Interested applicants should send an e-mail to stating qualifications. Or, send a brief resume and cover letter to Ann Epner, Community Arts Funding Coordinator, The Roxbury Arts Group, POB 93, Roxbury, NY 12474. For info, call 607 326-7908.
