Pakatakan Farmers' Market opening May 17 at Round Barn in Halcottsville

The Pakatakan Farmers’ Market, held at the historic Round Barn in Halcottsville, is gearing up for its 17th season, which opens on Saturday, May 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The market has become one of the area’s premier attractions, with local residents and visitors making regular Saturday stops a part of their routine from spring through fall.  This season, between 35 to 40 vendors will be hand each week featuring an assortment of regional goods.

The market operates every Saturday through mid-October. Admission is free. Special events will be planned throughout the season.

All goods offered at the market must be either grown or handmade in the Catskills and brokered foods must be clearly marked. Some vendors set up inside the barn and others have outdoor booths. A pavilion was added at the site three years ago and structure provides vendor space as well as a covered area for dining.

This season, an average of 30-40 vendors will be represented at the market throughout the season. The number traditionally expands as the season goes on and more farm items become ready to sell. Some vendors will be on hand every week while others will sell goods on an intermittent basis. The goods sold on a regular or seasonal basis include: bedding plants, shrubs, trees, fresh produce, baked goods, homemade crafts, jewelry, furniture, meat, eggs, fish, maple products, honey, wool and leather items. Vendors come from throughout the Catskill region.

The Pakatakan Farmers’ Market is held rain or shine. The market is located at the historic Round Barn on Route 30 near the hamlet of Halcottsville.
