Open Eye plans 'Magic Weekend'


Margaretville — The lights will come up on Artie Martello’s first of three performances of “Mysterious Moments” at 7 p.m. Friday, July 19, at The Open Eye Theater, 960 Main Street.
The popular and widely known magician will demonstrate his acclaimed talents again Saturday, July 20, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, July 21, at 3 p.m. The restaurants providing Dinner & Theater, Binnekill Square, The Inn Between, and The Hanah Resort, will be waiting to give patrons vouchers for preferred seating at the theatre after dinner or brunch. Admissions are adults $18, seniors $15, and youth to age 25, $10. Children age 12 and under will be admitted free on Sunday.

Space is still available for 6- to 10-year-olds in this year’s Youth Theater Workshop at The Open Eye Theater. Two weeks of camp, Monday – Friday from 10 am to Noon, from July 22 - August 2, will provide opportunities for the children to work as an ensemble, and to learn stagecraft, acting skills, and puppetry. Carol Jones Schwartz and Lynda Sharpe will direct the camp that leads to the production of “Too Many Frogs” by Sandra Fenichel Asher. Workshop students will be joined by teen and adult actors in performances at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, August 3 and 4. Suggested YTW fee is $100 for the two-week camp, or pay what you will.

Admission to performances of “Too Many Frogs” is $5. Children age 12 and under are free.
