Open Eye auditions set
Margaretville — The Open Eye Theater is seeking actors of all ages and types for a holiday production of “The Princess and the Goblin,” a new play adapted by Sandra Fenichel Asher from the book by George MacDonald. Adults, teens, and children with all levels of experience are encouraged to audition.
Adult roles include: The Mysterious Lady, a wise, magical, and beautiful great-great grandmother (ageless); Lootie, a kind, caring, and worried nursemaid; Goblin Queen, angry and unpleasant; Goblin King, also unpleasant, and somewhat henpecked; Sir Walter, a guard; Curdie’s Mother, a gentle and kind commoner. Teenage roles include: Princess Irene, brave, spirited, and curious; Curdie, a brave and good young commoner who works in the mines; Helfer, clueless son of the Goblin King and Queen. Also needed are two or more children age nine and up to play the roles of Creatures—pets of the Goblins.
Performances for family audiences will be Thursday – Saturday, Dec. 3-5 at 7s p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 6 at 3 p.m. There may also be student matinees the first week in December. Directors are Amie Brockway and Sharone Stacy.
Auditions will be held by appointment on Wednesday, Sept. 16 and Thursday, Sept. 17, between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. at The Open Eye Theater, 960 Main Street, Margaretville. Additional auditions will be held on Thursday, Sept. 24 and Friday, Sept. 25, between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Please phone 586-1660 to arrange for an appointment, or an alternate time.
