"Oklahoma!" at MCS May 9 and 10
The Margaretville Central School Scitamard Society will present “Oklahoma!” Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10 in the MCS auditorium. The musical, with book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein and music by Richard Rogers, will be seen at 7 p.m. both evenings.
The show will feature 19 student actors supported by a student crew of nine. Among the gifted young people who will be performing are MCS senior class members Jaclyn Atkin as Laurey Williams, Natalie Shaffer as Ado Annie, Brian Conine as Will Parker, Jesse Bernhardt as Jud Fry and classmates Ashley O’Reilly and Brandon LaBumbard in supporting roles.
Scitamard newcomers and fellow seniors performing also include Colleen McMurray and Serene Williams. Bob Miller, Andersen Morse, Billy Svobada and Dante Tarantini add to the large class of 2008 presence on the production by helping backstage.
The class of 2009 is represented by longtime Scitamard veterans Kory Ancona, Holly MacDonald, Caitlyn Roberts, Kailee Atkin and Jon Lee. Sophomores who will help bring the tale to life include Garrett Fairbairn as Curly McLain and in supporting roles, Michelle O’Reilly and Double J. Johnson.
Future stars from the class of 2011 include newcomers Katie Rosa and Travis Roberts along with second timer Matthew Gray who, after a sting on spotlight with “Arsenic & Old Lace” this past fall, will be stepping out to make his acting debut.
Tickets for both performances are $6 for adults with senior citizens’ and students $4. Admission for all children eight years and under is free.
