Oil painting workshop planned April 12 at Belleayre Mountain

The Roxbury Arts Group and The MARK Group will present a full-day oil painting workshop with Marilyn Silver, one of the Catskills’ most collected painter, on Saturday, April 12.
The workshop will take place at the Belleayre Mountain Ski Lodge at Highmount from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. $125 includes all materials, a continental breakfast and a brown bag lunch.
In this reassuring and supportive workshop participants will receive an introduction to the basics of oil painting. With breathtaking landscape views as inspiration, you’ll learn to select your subject matter, plan your composition, set up your palette and handle materials.
Emphasis will be on process rather than product. Individual attention will be paid as well as suggestions on solving painting problems. If you’ve painted before, feel free to bring one or two pieces for additional feedback.
Wear clothes that can withstand paint spatters and expect to head home at the end of the day with new knowledge and confidence to begin the sometimes daunting but ultimately satisfying path to becoming a painter.
Marilyn Silver holds a master’s degree in arts education and has studied on the graduate level in Mexico, New Mexico and Greece. She has been a fellow at The Millay Colony and the Virginia Center for The Creative Arts. Her garden and landscape paintings are in many private collections and she has exhibited widely in New York City and throughout the Catskills.
