Oct. 28, 2009: Mike, John deserve voters' support

To The Editor:
Although the campaign has been low-key, there’s an important election taking place in the Town of Middletown next Tuesday. Residents will select two town board members among three candidates.
I have been on the town board for two years and have enjoyed the experience. With two years left in my term, I am hoping that 12-year board member Michael Finberg wins re-election. I would also like to see John Bernhardt earn a board seat.
Michael and I have not always agreed on every issue that comes before the board, but we both want what’s best for the town. That’s what matters most. He has served the community well for three terms and is deserving of re-election.
John is an enthusiastic newcomer to town politics. But he certainly has a long history of serving his community — including nearly 35 years as a teacher and school administrator.
John has vast experience working with large budgets, unions and the public. The experience and qualifications he would bring to the town board would be extremely beneficial to Middletown residents.
Both Michael Finberg and John Bernhardt deserve voters’ support next Tuesday.
