Oct. 22, 2008: Year of success in Fleischmanns

To The Editor:
Fleischmanns Fall Festival included several events in addition to the Kids’ tent as noted under the headine “Fleischmanns Shines" in your October 15 issue. Running concurrently was “Fleischmanns First Floors Historic House and Garden Tour.” Conceived and run entirely by Fleischmanns First members and volunteers, the tour was made up of 11 buildings on Wagner Avenue and Main Street. Volunteer docents led over 120 visitors through the first floors of eight homes, Congregation B’nai Israel, Skene Memorial Library and the Fleischmanns Museum of Memories. Visitors from as far north as Schenectady, south from South New Jersey and east from Kingston, came to Fleischmanns for the tour.
Fleischmanns First, an organization founded a year ago and which now has over 90 members, is missioned to promote and enhance our historic village with preservation, restoration, economic redevelopment, promotion of arts and culture, community planning and by providing an effective means for volunteers to help the community prosper. With the support of the MARK Group, the O’Connor Foundation and the Kenneth Pasternak Family Foundation, the volunteers and members of Fleischmanns First are already making a positive impact.
Fleischmanns First Floors and Kids’ tent were a success we will repeat next year. Thank you to all the volunteers and homeowners who opened their doors to our visitors on Columbus Day.
