Oct. 15, 2008: A good woman should be re-elected
To The Editor:
Kirsten Gillibrand has done an outstanding job in Congress representing the regular person and fighting against special interests. I am actively supporting her re-election and urge all readers to do so also. She works hard to make sure those of us who work hard have a voice in Congress.
Kirsten Gillibrand is fighting to make sure every child has health care. She supports expanding the Child Health Plus program to working families that are not offered insurance through the jobs. As a hospital social worker for 30 years, I know that good health care helps children do well in school and helps children grow into productive adults. Kirsten is fighting for our children.
Kirsten Gillibrand is also fighting for tax cuts for working families and small businesses. She has written bills to double the childcare tax credit and to make up to $10,000 in college tuition tax deductible.
Kirsten Gillibrand is working hard for upstate residents. In her first term, she has helped over 1,000 local residents fight red tape when dealing with federal agencies. She has helped get over $200,000 in benefits for veterans and over $250,000 of social security benefits for seniors. Kirsten has helped secure over $20 million in federal funding for essential local projects. Kirsten serves on the Agricultural Committee and passed legislation to strengthen the safety net for small dairy farmers.
Please join me in re-electing Kirsten Gillibrand.
