Oct. 14, 2009: Cost of needed treatments is great
To The Editor:
As you may already know, we’ve reached out for your support for our son, Dylan Utter, and were extremely grateful for the outcome! Dylan is four years old and suffers from the Number One genetic disease that kills children, Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
In April 2009, we took Dylan to Lima, Peru to receive umbilical cord stem cells as well as his own harvested stem cells (Antilogous cells). These treatments were very successful and he has made a “marked improvement.” Since Dylan has had such improvement he will need to receive another round of treatments to further his progress.
Your support is necessary to help Dylan receive these treatments. There is no other treatment or protocol available in the United States for this disease. The previous treatments have enabled him to have better head and trunk support, increased strength in extremities, increased muscle tone, overall increased body strength and control. Dylan’s fine motor skills have improved and, most importantly, has slowed the progression of this disease!
The cost of these treatments are expensive and as you can imagine, are not covered by any insurance. Your support would be greatly appreciated no matter how big or small. If you wish to support Dylan on his journey to wellness and improved quality of life, donations can be made to: Dylan Utter, P.O. Box 379, Roxbury, NY 12474.
