Nicole Allison Hinkley and U.S. Army Captain Matthew John Cahill were united in marriage on December 31, 2008 in a sunset ceremony on Lido Beach in Florida.

The couple met as undergraduate students at St. Lawrence University in Canton. Both graduated in 2005 with Bachelor of Science degrees in government.
Shortly after graduation Matthew was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army and completed the Officer Basic Course at Fort Sill, Oklahoma with a specialization in field artillery. Matthew is also an Airborne Paratrooper and achieved Jump Master status.
In early 2006 he was assigned to Fort Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska and then served a 15-month tour of duty in Iraq, returning home in late 2007.
Prior to joining Matthew in Anchorage, Nicole completed her Master of Science degree in student affairs in higher education at Colorado State University in May 2007. Nicole was also published in the “Journal of Student Affairs” and earned accolades for research while attending Colorado State.
Nicole and Matthew continue to reside in Anchorage. Nicole currently serves as the assistant director for student leadership at the University of Alaska in Anchorage and coordinates institutional assessments for the Department of Student Life and Leadership.
In early February Matthew was deployed to Afghanistan with the 25th Infantry Division as the 3-509 Battalion Fire Support Officer.
The couple plans to tour eastern Europe for three weeks in July 2010 after Matthew’s return from Afghanistan.
