New Kingston Post Office will be hosting Passport Day
New Kingston — The State Department announced that it is planning to raise passport fees, but customers can avoid the increase by getting their passports now. As a convenience to postal customers, New Kingston Post Office will host a passport day and accept passport applications on Saturday, March 27 from 8 a.m. to noon at the New Kingston Post Office.
Americans now need to show a valid U.S. passport book, a U.S. passport card or other special travel document approved by the Department of Homeland Security when entering the U.S. by land or sea from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda at land border crossings or sea ports-of-entry.
The fee for first time applicants for adults (16 years of age) is $100, for those under 16 years old the fee is $60 (photo not included). Two payment transactions are required: $75 to the Department of State and $25 to the United States Postal Service. The fee for a passport renewal is $75. Passports will be mailed to the customer in four to six weeks after application. Call 586-4057 for information or to schedule an appointment.
