New Kingston News: May 7, 2008

New Kingston Valley Grange held their first meeting of the year since being closed for the winter. The charter was draped in memory of Ron Greene who passed away in December. The Grange will have a bake sale with friends May 10 in Andes for the John Ackerley family.
Thelma Ruff was in charge of the literary program, because the lecturer was absent. She read an article written by Ethel Edwards, “A glimpse into school year 1913-14 at Andes School District No. 5 lower Dingle Hill.” Two members of the Grange attended that school, Douglas Condon and Wanda Lanzi.
The lecturer also held a quiz on Government. She announced birthdays for the month: Marjorie Tweedie the 1st, Thelma Ruff, 19th and Barbara Clark, 20th. Anniversary is David and Georgia Taylor, May 17.
Karen Northrup and son Ryan of Columbus, N.C., visited her mother for a few days this past week. She drove up to Potsdam to get her son Ryan, who attended his first year of college at Clarkson.
Barbara Kapitko and Ginny McCumber of Margaretville and Wanda Lanzi attended the Roxbury Senior Citizen luncheon and card party Wednesday afternoon. Wanda Lanzi came home with the ladies’ high score.
Faye VanBenschoten and her son Andy attended the annual Delaware County Jersey Spring meeting Sunday at the Hamden Town Hall.
