New direction for Todd Mountain Theater
Todd Mountain Theater Project is following up the success of last summer’s residency program with a second residency, hosted by artistic director Suzanne Pred Bass from June 28 through July 5.
This year’s residency will be led by Obie award-winning writer and director Len Jenkin, whose Kraken and Limbo Tales were produced by TMTP in 2003 and 2011 respectively. Jenkin will collaborate with a company of actors and designers in developing his ideas for The Jonah Project, a work based on the biblical Book of Jonah. Comprising the company are Samantha Bilinkas, Erin Boswell, Steve Coats, Finn Kilgore, Adrienne Pluta, Sue Rees and Ben Rosenthal. As Jenkin envisages the residency, it will be “a workshop exploration involving the Book of Jonah, neuroscience, brain medicine/healing, and the secrets of the deep.”
Good to be back
Sue Rees, who teaches animation and set design at Bennington College, says she is “delighted to be back at Todd Mountain after working there in 2003 on Jenkin’s Kraken.”
TMTP artistic director Pred Bass says she is, “excited to have found this new direction after 13 years of producing full-scale professional productions.” While the residency program marks a departure for TMTP, it “continues TMTP’s mission of supporting the development of new plays.”
As with last summer’s residency, Roxbury Arts Group will provide space to the company to explore ideas and possibilities in this early stage of the creative process. The public will be able to sit in and watch from Tuesday, July 1 through Thursday, July 3 from noon to 4:00 p.m.
