Music Festival planned Aug. 8 at Margaretville Village Pavilion

The Community Music & Arts Network will host a free, all ages, alcohol-free acoustic music festival on Saturday, Aug. 8 from 3-9 p.m. in the Margaretville Pavilion behind Freshtown.
The event will includee barbecue chicken, arts and crafts, face-painting, and other festival vendors will also be available. This event is made possible in part by a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts’ Decentralization Program administered in Delaware County by The Roxbury Arts Group and Performance Plus of Stamford.
Teen and young adult artists performing include Jonas Finkle and Will Wright, Yosemite and the Range of Light, Ryan Pesa and James Murray, Anya “A-Train” Aliferis, last year’s Battle of the Bands winners Miss Pelican, featuring Gabe Miller and Mike Kendall unplugged, as well as this year’s winner, acoustic duo Lachesis Lament.
Local Catskill Mountain favorites Mike Herman, Journey Blue Heaven, and Diviner, with Theodore Finkle, Pamela West, and special guest Henry Herman will also perform. Bob Kendall of Last Day Shining will also provide special interlude acoustic music between bands.
CMA Network President and 2009 Graduate of Margaretville Central School, Holly MacDonald, planned the festival with the help of Founder/Director Pamela West-Finkle. Jam Camp students at the recent Modern Music Summer Jamp Camp sponsored by The Roxbury Arts Group also helped to organize the festival by making flyers while student volunteers contacted area businesses for sponsorship. During the festival, a team of student volunteers will also provide most of the work.
“Our goal is to provide live music and cultural opportunities oriented toward our geographically isolated Catskill Mountain youth, as well as artist development and performance opportunities to the amazing young talent we have in this area,” said director Pamela West-Finkle.
“Festival goers will not be disappointed by the quality of the music—we’ve been working with some of these young artists for two years now and they are as good as anything you would hear on independent radio. It will be a fun family event with a musical lineup of outstanding performers that will appeal to many different tastes.”
Corporate sponsors for the event include Coldwell Banker Timberland Properties and The Cheese Barrel. NBT Bank and Freshtown are Gold sponsors. Silver sponsors are MTC Cable, The Full Moon Resort, Jean Orr, and friends of the network are Reliable Tent Rentals, Valkyrian Motel, Discoveries and The Fish Market.
