Morell wins Fleischmanns mayoral post in a landslide

It was a convincing victory for Fleischmanns mayoral candidate David Morell, who defeated incumbent Malcolm Becker by a vote tally of 70 to 13 in Wednesday's election. Morell has served as a member of the village's planning board for the past year. Becker missed the petition deadline to appear on the mayoral ballot and was running as a write-in candidate. A longtime village board trustee, he took over the mayoral post last fall following the resignation of former mayor Kathleen Wilbur.

The race for two open seats on the village's board of trustees was somewhat closer, with Todd Pascarella and Martin Moralis being named to the board with 60 and 40 votes, respectively. The third candidate, Harriet Grossman, received 37 votes.
