Moore earns degree in chemistry
Rensselaer — Margaretville native Casey Moore graduated from Rensselear Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on May 29 earning a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry.
While at RPI Moore did research with the Linhardt group on the chemical modification of heparin. Professor Linhardt is a distinguished scientist, recently listed as one of the “Scientific American 10,” one of 10 people recognized by Scientific American for their “demonstrated outstanding commitment to assuring that the benefits of new technologies and knowledge will accrue to humanity.” Casey worked with the Linhardt group for two years and completed his degree in three years. At RPI he also participated in intramural basketball and soccer.
Following his July 31 wedding in Jakobstad, Finland to Sarah Lillvik, a former Margaretville Central School Rotary exchange student, he and his bride will be living in the Pittsburgh, Penn. area where she is a student at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. He will be working in the Pittsburgh area.
Casey is the son of Randy and Pat Moore of Margaretville. Among those attending his graduation were his parents and his brothers Ros and Marcus Moore.
