MMH members will be honored to mark Auxilian Day
The Auxiliary of Margaretville Hospital and Mountainside Residential Care Center will be honored with a brunch at the regular monthly meeting Thursday, May 8 at 10 a.m. at Mountainside.
Governor David Paterson has proclaimed May 14, 2008 as Health Care Auxilian Day in New York State to recognize the dedicated auxilians who annually donate more than five million hours of service to their health care facilities and to their communities.
The auxiliary has donated $11,786 since January 2008 for items such as defibrillators for Margaretville and Roxbury Family Health Centers, signage for the hospital van and $3,000 for the Mountainside Residential Care Center's Sunshine Fund.
“The tireless hours and dedication that each volunteer member has given to the Thrift Shop, blood drives, time at the Hospital and Mountainside, and all the events that are planned throughout the year are priceless. This organization would not be what it is today with out each and every volunteer,” said Auxiliary President Sue Adams.
New York State has more than 75,000 health care auxilians who initiate, fund, and volunteer for a wide variety of patient and family care services-from outpatient clinics to intensive care units. They sponsor health fairs, blood banks, and wellness lecture series; raise funds for hospital and nursing home equipment; and organize community outreach programs.
