Milford girls roll past RCS in tourney play

By John Bernhard
A bruising second quarter took Roxbury out of the game as Milford outscored the Rockets, 22-7, to build a, 34-16, halftime lead in the opening round of Stamford’s girls’ basketball tournament on Friday afternoon.
Addy Lawson hit two three-points, scored eight points, and made three steals during the run as the Milford reached Saturday’s title game with a 56-28 win.
Roxbury struggled to get the offense in motion throughout the contest. A poor night from the foul line, four of 19, didn’t help the Roxbury cause. Sophomore center, Stacey Sprague reached double figures to led the Rockets with 12 points.
The Rockets’ next game is against Andes on Wednesday, Jan. 8.
