Michael W. Lalosh, Jr.
Michael W. Lalosh Jr., 63, a resident of Roxbury, died June 28, 2014.
Mike was born July 16, 1950 in Bayshore, NY to Michael and Delores Lalosh and grew up in Holbrook NY. He joined the United States Marine Corps at 18, serving in Vietnam. Mike met and married Catherine while stationed in California in July of 1971. They moved to Roxbury in 1976.
Mike was very proud of his service as a firefigher. He joined the Holbrook Volunteer Fire Department as a teen and rose to the rank of Captain and was a professional Firefighter at Northport Veterans Hospital. Mike was also a member of the Roxbury Fire Department where he was an Assistant Fire Chief and served over 20 years. He was also very proud to have taught the probationary firefighters of the Margaretville Fire Department. Mike an avid outdoorsman, enjoying camping in the Adirondack Mountains, hiking, fishing and hunting. He shared his love of the mountains with his beloved grandson, Lawson and his brothers Bill and Don.
Mike is survived by his daughter, Alanna Gavette and her husband, Scott; daughter, Debra Lucci; son, Michael Lalosh III; siblings, William (Bill) Lalosh, Donna Lalosh, and Richard Lalosh Sr. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lindsay Gavette, Lawson Gavette, Donovan Gavette, Miles Lalosh; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Michael W. Lalosh Sr.; mother, Delores Lalosh; brother, Donald Lalosh; and his companion Linda Lucci.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 26 at 12:30 p.m. in the Firemen's Room at the Roxbury Fire Department.
