Melissa S. Finch, 70, of Roxbury, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, March 27, 2008, surrounded by her loved ones, at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.
She was born May 30, 1937 in Roscoe.
Mrs. Finch is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, James A. Finch, of Roxbury; seven children and their spouses, Kevin and Teresa Liddle of Pitcher, Garth Liddle of Eaton, Dale and Corina Liddle of Gum Spring, VA,. Kenny Liddle of Chester, VA, Debbie Liddle of Richmond, VA, David and Erika Liddle of Louisa, VA and Nancy and Rick Lutz of Forestport; a daughter, adopted by love, and her husband, Kathleen and Dan Gilman of Red Hook; two sisters, Noni Wells of Livingston Manor and Linda Pierpoint of Roscoe; three brothers, Richard and Helen Simmons of Lincoln, IL, Gail and Brenda Simmons of Kingston and Bill and Elaine Pierpoint of New York; five stepchildren and their spouses, Dan and Karen Finch of Lavonia, Doug and Bonnie Finch of Hampstead, MD, Betsy and Larry Cridlin of Mechanicsville, VA, Duane and Sonja Finch of Newcomb and Bonnie and Tim Barkman of Roxbury; 26 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Finch was predeceased by her mother, Naomi Collins; her father, Robert Simmons and her stepson, Dennis Finch.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 29 at the Margaretville Advent Christian Church, with a gathering which followed at the Church.
Burial was in the Vega Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Margaretville Advent Christian Church, Orchard Street, Margaretville, NY 12455.
