May 7, 2008: High expectations for board position

To The Editor:
It is my pleasure to introduce myself as Tara Neeham-Poniros for a candidate for the Roxbury School Board. Let me start off by saying that I am the best candidate for the job, and I am ready to serve. I am a graduate of RCS, and a college graduate of Marymount College. Along with my husband, we decided that we wanted to make Roxbury our home, knowing the benefits of residing in a small community, with a great school for our two young children. My two children are also an inspiration for wanting to become a member of the board. When I relocated back to my hometown of Roxbury, a key goal of mine was to become an active and effective member of the community. Becoming a Roxbury School Board member will put me on the right path for meeting my goal.
I believe that RCS is an excellent school, but I also believe that it can be a better school. My commitment to educational excellence and equity for all children will prove my belief. Early intervention is number one in my mind for creating a better school, along with health and wellness for all students. I have high expectations, and I believe this is a great qualification for the job. Having the ability to deal with issues with a fresh and open mind describes my ambitions.
You can have confidence that I will make good and fair decisions to all matters associated with the school board of education. I look forward to becoming the newest RCS Board of Education member. I encourage all to come and vote for me, Tara Needham-Poniros on May 20. Please mark your calendars, and I’ll see you there.
