Mary Kay McLean
Mary Kay McLean, 93, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2009 at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.
She was born August 15, 1916 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the daughter of Salvatore (Sam) and Emily Failla. Mary Kay was a resident of Falls Church, Va., from 1955 to 1998, before moving to Albuquerque, N.M., and Andes in 2002.
Mary Kay was an administrative assistant in the DOD, the USMC, and the Department of Labor for 25 years until her retirement in 1992.
She was a devoted mother with a great love for the piano, the arts and flowers. She derived great pleasure visiting with relatives and friends and making flower arrangements for the Lily and Chrysanthemum Societies. She was a kind and giving person who will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are her sister, Beatrice Merritt and brother, John Patrick Failla and two children, Bert A. McLean Jr. of Frederick, Md. and Gloria McLean-Hiratsuka of Andes. Also surviving are two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Sam, Frank and William.
Prayer services were at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12 at the Hynes Funeral Home in Margaretville with the Very Rev. Robert H. Purcell, officiating.
Committal services will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C.
