Mary Alice Hummell, 65, of Tremper Avenue, Phoenicia, died suddenly Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012 at the Kingston Hospital.
She was born June 10, 1946 in Margaretville, the daughter of Beatrice Brezee Moore and the late Warren Moore. She was a native and lifelong resident of the Catskills.
Mary Alice had been in retail management and had worked for London’s for many, many years.
She loved to travel and toured the U.S.A. from east to west. She was an independent, vibrant soul, who lived life on her terms, and who loved to socialize and entertain people. She had been a member of the American Legion Post 950 Auxiliary and the IOOB Ridge Runners Club.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her two sons, August Frey of Saugerties and Norman Frey of Amsterdam; a daughter, Kimberley Plantz of Schenectady and a stepdaughter, Debbie; two brothers, David and Richard Moore; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Mary Alice will be held on Thursday, March 1, at 10 a.m. at the E.B. Gormley Funeral Home, 87 Main Street, Phoenicia.
Memorials may be made to the Shandaken Ambulance or the Shandaken Food Pantry.
Friends and family will gather to honor and remember Mary Alice on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
