Marion Miller, 88, formerly of Fox Hollow Road, Shandaken, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the Mountainside Care Center in Margaretville. She was born April 30, 1921, the daughter of the late Alfred and Mabel Taylor Whispel.
Marion was a homemaker who enjoyed baking and tending her flower gardens. She was also a talented crocheter, who crafted many handmade pieces.
Surviving are her sister, Genevieve Kilmer, also a resident at Mountainside Care Center and daughter-in-law Alice Miller of Margaretville; four grandchildren, Janine Miller of West Hurley, Margaret Rotella of Fleischmanns, Wendy Montagno of North Carolina and Kristina Sumpter of Catskilll. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Hiram in 1993; a sister, Jean Wood in 1998 and a son, Gary in 2001.
A service to celebrate the life of Marion was held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the E.B. Gormley Funeral Home, 87 Main Street, Phoenicia with the Rev. Ralph Darmstadt as celebrant.
Burial is in the Shandaken Rural Cemetery, Rte. 28, Shandaken.
