Margaretville, Roxbury skiers score at Plattekill giant slalom

Two skiers from Margaretville and two from Roxbury claimed four of the top 10 spots in the men’s giant slalom at Plattekill Mountain on Friday, while three Roxbury skiers finished in the top 10 in the women’s giant slalom.
Margaretville’s Ian Williams, the No. 1 seed, finished fourth with a time of 23.62 while Roxbury’s Jacob Liberatore finished sixth at 24.01. Margaretville’s Caleb Todd was just behind him, finishing seventh with a time of 24.10, and Alex Riordan (RCS) took the ninth-place spot with a 25.42 run.
Roxbury’s Heather Davie and Haley Walcutt came in fifth and sixth, respectively; Davie finished the run in 25.85 and Walcutt trailed her at 26.03. Teammatte Suzanna Liddle came in ninth with a time of 26.78.
As local ski teams approach the end of their regular season schedule, league standings show the Margaretville men’s team ranked third and Roxbury at fourth, while the Roxbury women’s team is currently ranked third.
Roxbury women’s skiers Walcutt, Davie and Liddle are ranked fifth, ninth and tenth, respectively, placing them above the cut-off for the state.
Ranked on the men’s side are: Ian Williams (MCS), first; Jake Brophy (MCS), seventh; Jacob Liberatore (RCS), eighth; Caleb Todd (MCS), ninth; Garret Hinkley (RCS), tenth. All five are currently above the cut for states; also ranked above the sectional cut are Roxbury’s Alex Riordan, 14th, and Kevin Lutz, 15th.
Men’s and women’s skiers are scheduled to compete at Windham on Friday, Feb. 5.
