March 10, 2010: Tireless workers are appreciated

To The Editor:
On behalf of the local fire departments and EMS providers, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our local highway crews including village, town, county and state for their efficient and effective work in dealing with the recent storms that struck our area. Without these men and women getting out there and making our roads passable in all sorts of conditions, the emergency response system would fail miserably.
As an example, consider maneuvering an emergency vehicle through our village when there was just over a lane of travel open. Our crews have taken valiant and sometimes expensive actions to insure that all residents will be afforded emergency service when needed.
When you see a highway worker thank him or her for the work they do. We would not get around without their tireless work. Thanks again.
