Man arrested for 2009 Roxbury robbery

A 42-year-old Grand Gorge resident was arrested August 3 on charges stemming from an armed robbery at a Roxbury convenience store in 2009. Douglas G. Cronk was arrested on a charge of first-degree robbery as a result of a lengthy investigation into an armed robbery that occurred on March 2, 2009 at the Roxbury Country Store on Main Street

On Wednesday, August 3, 2011, The New York State Police at Margaretville arrested Douglas G. Cronk, 42, of Grand Gorge, for Robbery 1st Degree.

Cronk was arrested following an investigation into the March 2, 2009 armed robbery that occurred at the Roxbury Country Store, State Route 30, Town of Roxbury, N.Y. Cronk was arraigned in the Town of Roxbury Court and remanded to the Delaware County Jail in lieu of bail.

DNA evidence secured during the course of this investigation contributed to identifying a suspect.
Police initially reported that a masked intruder entered the Main Street store at approximately 10:58 p.m. and displayed what police said appeared to be a handgun. The subject demanded that the store clerk turn over cash from the register and then fled the scene on foot. He reportedly exited the scene and headed south in front of the store before disappearing from sight.

The clerk then contacted the Delaware County 911 Emergency Center to report the crime. No injuries were reported in the incident. State police did not indicate how much money was taken.
The New York State Police were assisted with this investigation by members of the NYC Department of Environmental Protection Police, Delaware County Probation Office and the Town of Roxbury Constable.
