Lucille “Lucy” Benjamin Myers, 74, of Academy Street, Pine Hill died Monday, Oct. 14, 2013 at the Roscoe Rehabilitation Center with her family at her side.
She was a native and life-long area resident who was born in Catskill on February 18, 1939, a daughter of the late Melvin and Lucy Higgins Benjamin. Lucy was a compassionate and hard working individual who was a people person. Her family was paramount, and she was devoted to her grandchildren. For many years, Lucy had been a cashier at the Country Store in Phoenicia making all feel welcome.
Surviving are her children; Leslie Gavette of Margaretville, Cheryl Myers of Fleischmanns, Mary Guglielmetti of Hancock, Donald (Butch) Myers of Pine Hill, and John Fields of TN. Seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.
Friends were received on Wednesday evening, October 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home.
A service to celebrate the life of Lucy was held on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home, 87 Main Street, Phoenicia with the Rev. Ralph Darmstadt as celebrant.
Burial is in the Shandaken Rural Cemetery.
