Local ski teams compete at Plattekill, Windham
Boys’ varsity skiers from Roxbury Central School took three of the top seven places at Friday’s giant slalom competition at Plattekill Mountain. Garret Hinkley, Nate Liddle and Alex Riordan finished fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively, with times of 28.84, 29.18 and 29.86. The top four skiers were Alan Kochan (Hunter-Tannersville) with a 26.47, Tucker Foti (Hunter-Tannersville) with a 27.35, Russell Pelham (Windham-Ashland-Jewett) with a 28.36 and Jake Randall (Hunter-Tannersville) with a 28.5.
Margaretville’s Kory Ancona placed third on the girls’ side of the giant slalom race at Plattekill on Friday with a 28.95 finish. Windham’s Lisa Davis took first place with a 25.94, followed closely by teammate Lexie Vining with a 26.12.
Roxbury’s Heather Davie placed fourth with a time of 29.28 while teammate Haley Walcutt rounded out the top five with a 29.42.
Tuesday, Jan. 6
Top-seeded Ian Williams from Margaretville Central School placed second in the giant slalom last Tuesday, finishing the course in 26.29, a mere .03 behind Hunter-Tannersville’s second-seeded Tucker Foti.
Roxbury’s Jacob Liberatore placed third, finishing the course in 27.28. Alan Kochan of Hunter-Tannersville placed fourth with a 27.38 finish, while Roxbury’s Nate Liddle rounded out the top five with a 27.7 finish.
On the varsity girls’ side of the competition, student-athletes from Windham took the top two places, with Lisa Davis and Lexie Vining finishing in 25.93 and 26.39, respectively. Stamford’s Jacqueline Olson placed third with a 28.97 finish, while Roxbury Central School’s Heather Davie placed fourth with a 29.14. Windham’s Stephanie Simpfenderfer rounded out the top five with a 29.28.
